Reviews about ALDI

This is a bare bones, no frills store. That's how the chain keeps their prices down, which range from reasonable to amazing. Living on a fixed income, I must be careful with my budget. Shopping at Aldi has helped me squeak by every month. The closest MVRTD bus stop is in front of the Ramada Inn just north of Aldi which is helpful for those of us without working cars. Come prepared with a quarter if you want to use a shopping cart. Carts are chained together in two cart corrals. To remove a cart, one places a quarter in the slot, which is on the right side of the handle. Once you return the cart and replace the chain, your quarter pops out. This is an ingenious way to make sure carts are returned to the cart corral. For smaller loads, plastic shopping baskets are available inside. Additionally, bring your own bags. Aldi charges for bags, but sometimes boxes are available for free. Because the store usually functions with a limited, but efficient crew, look for someone stocking shelves. They'll often be filling a large cart with empty boxes. Wednesday weekly specials often sell-out, so plan on shopping Wednesday or soon after. Aldi carries its own lines of products, the quality of which is comparable to or in some cases, better than more familiar national brands. Sometimes national brands are available at a good price. The cashiers are some of the fastest I've ever seen. I am often unable to unload my cart before they've rung up everything previously placed on the conveyor belt. Another way Aldi saves money is that customers must bag their own purchases. Bring some toilet paper, just in case you must use the facilities. Every once in a while, the employees are busy cashiering and can't jump up to replace it. That and the fact that there is no sidewalk connecting Aldi to the bus stop in front of the Ramada Inn are my only two issues with shopping there. Overall, highly recommended!
